The awakening process is threefold: the moment of excitation, the relief of the inflow of energy, and then the automatic transmission of the lesson. None of this is important to know as factual data. The mystery here lies in recognizing the process as one is experiencing it, so no debate is needed. However, the traveling warrior meets with disaster in certain circumstances once the transmission is lost.
There was a moment in my youthful travels as a beginning meditator when I sometimes grasped when the energies were being transmitted, only to lose the moment again in doubt of what had just occurred. This happened when I sat at my Teacher and friend's house reciting poetry somewhat similar to that of the Bhagavad Gita. My teacher's excitement nearly knocked me off track when she announced to the group that, at that moment, I was like a songbird bringing through the lesson for everyone. I smiled, and the transmission ended.
What was nothing short of miraculous to me, though, as I drove home that day, the incident was quickly forgotten. That is until I began to have this same occurrence in spontaneous moments following meditation. Although, the meditation I practiced looked nothing like sitting for meditation. I later realized this mental yoga practice was meant to be utilized in every moment of every day, much like seeing “as if for the first time.”
I have come to remember so far that even the most mundane of circumstances require one to pay attention to what is always and has ever been transmitted. Today, my Teachers on the inner side of reality brought this idea home for me:
What the work entails for you is keeping a record of all occurrences spiritual in nature. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean living your days as a scribe for the Heavens. It simply means directing your day-to-day activities according to His will and never losing track of who you are as a spiritual being at any given moment of the day.
