Message to a Loved One

Let’s study the line of demarcation together. The line of demarcation is a subtle variation of a more common term: discrimination. The variant piece to this concerns what is being discriminated against.

Like most people in the world, our family has rhythms and cycles of activity for everyday matters. This includes morning breakfast routines, school and work hours, times for exercise and play, and family time together. The crazier component…routines are followed kind of mindlessly. None of us have to think about the expectations for ordinary day-to-day living stuff; however, what requires conscious effort comes from a deeper sense of Self and can’t be defined in the ordinary sense because it is a non-linear progression.

Discrimination means always bringing the spiritual aspect into everything one does, then remaining discerning as to the higher vibrations of awareness available to act upon. Effort in this direction requires an active-alert mind and a willingness to break free of old patterns and mindsets that are no longer of service. For example, giving myself ample time for yoga and meditation work is never an issue; however, with the caveat we’re all here to discover the nature of the true self and not get buried by the forms of being – even when it arrives in a tightly woven package called “spirituality.”

The effort one places upon getting to know the true self often means diving deeply into buried issues our routines are meant to cover up. It’s a worthy investment to explore every little sore spot while never remaining stuck in it but to observe and effectively transmute the energy reliably through meditation practice. Once mastered, the sore spot goes away and doesn’t need to be revisited. This is what is meant by spiritual development. Spiritual development is overcoming the sore spots so one can live a more active, fulfilling life in harmony with the Universe.
