One common mistake I've made is ever to think harmful behavior had to be tolerated for any reason. We have slogans to cover up these seemingly innocent doings, for example, "Boys will be boys," "That's politics," "It's business," and "Turn the other cheek."
The latter is interesting because what it means to me isn't what it sounds like. Turning the other cheek doesn't mean allowing terrible things to happen. Walking away from wrongdoing, however, sometimes allows bittersweet Karma to take its course. Given this, when I KNOW to speak up or take action, it's vital to. And yet, to me, nonviolence never means poking at the conditioned self to start a fight while hoping to prove oneself right in the eyes of another. But where is the line?
I have concluded that every sore spot within me stems from an inner karmic link. So, once again, I ask myself, "What did I forget this time?"
Amid every awakening moment is the conclusion of Oneness. Seriously taken, there would be no reason to pick a fight or blame anybody outside oneself.
