Autumn Rain

What I see myself as is what unfolds for me. This is an esoteric truth, not a platitude, and can be experimented with in each individual life had one cared to test it out. What I mean is that there are opportunities within every circumstance - what some say are experiences in consciousness. Conscious awareness doesn't just happen unless the will is engaged, and the spiritual work is completed with some dedicated effort. Awakening to the opportunity means having created for oneself the set of spiritual habits necessary to keep one's vibration uplifted in any circumstance, no matter what is happening.

It was a cold day in October. The rain had finally settled in, and the air was cleared of smoke from the Indian Summer fires, which burned for days. My lungs were rejoicing in the fresh air as I let out a slight cough, allowing the last bit of smoke to escape. The weather was drizzly, but I wasn't cold. Within me was the warmth of something deep and abiding, and nothing, this day, would bring me down to earth to experience the bitter cold again.
